Description

Amish Country Casserole brings old-fashioned comfort with creamy noodles, savory beef, and a crunchy topping. Each bite feels like a home-cooked favorite passed down through generations.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 750 grams ground beef
  • 1 packet pasta
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk

Supporting Ingredients:

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, chopped or crushed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Seasoning Ingredients:

  • ½ tablespoon paprika
  • ½ tablespoon parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Crank your oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Boil 16 ounces of pasta according to package directions until perfectly al dente. Drain and rinse with cool water.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté 1 chopped onion and 2 tablespoons minced garlic for 3 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add 750 grams ground beef to the skillet. Brown the meat for 8-10 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles while cooking.
  5. Drain excess fat from the meat mixture after browning completely.
  6. Mix 1 can tomato soup, 1 can mushroom soup, and 1 cup milk in a large mixing bowl.
  7. Fold cooked pasta and beef into the soup mixture. Season with ½ tablespoon salt, ½ tablespoon pepper.
  8. Transfer entire mixture to prepared baking dish. Sprinkle ½ tablespoon paprika and ½ tablespoon parsley across the top.
  9. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 22 minutes until edges are bubbly and top looks slightly golden.
  10. Remove from oven and let casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Always use freshly minced garlic for deeper flavor in the skillet when cooking the beef.
  • Whole milk creates a richer, creamier sauce compared to low-fat alternatives.
  • For a gluten-free version, swap regular pasta with chickpea or rice pasta and use gluten-free cream of mushroom soup.
  • Cold water after draining prevents pasta from becoming sticky and clumping together during mixing.
