Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 1 block feta
- 1 tbsp gochujang
- 1½ tbsp honey
Supporting Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- ½ tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 small garlic clove
Garnish and Serving:
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Optional: sliced scallions or chili threads
- Warm pita, sourdough, or crackers
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Place a 200g block of feta in a small baking dish. Drizzle 1 tablespoon olive oil over the cheese and crack some black pepper on top.
- Create the glaze by mixing 1 tablespoon gochujang, 1½ tablespoons honey, 1 teaspoon rice vinegar, ½ teaspoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, and 1 grated garlic clove in a small bowl until smooth.
- Pour the entire glaze mixture generously over your feta, making sure to coat the top and sides completely.
- Slide the dish into the preheated oven and bake for exactly 20-22 minutes. Your feta should develop golden edges and the glaze will start bubbling.
- If you desire extra caramelization, switch your oven to broil. Watch carefully and broil for 1-2 minutes to avoid burning the glaze.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds across the top. Add sliced scallions or chili threads if you prefer.
- Serve the hot feta right away with warm pita, sourdough, or crispy crackers for dipping.
Notes
- Check the feta’s saltiness before seasoning, as some brands are saltier than others.
- Test the gochujang’s heat level and adjust honey or vinegar to balance the spice for your taste.
- For a lighter version, use a lower-fat feta and swap honey with a sugar-free alternative.
- Let the feta sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before baking to ensure even heating and a creamy texture.
