Description

Mushroom Beef Casserole delivers pure comfort straight from grandma’s kitchen, warming your heart with rich, meaty flavors that feel like a delicious family hug. Tender beef and earthy mushrooms blend perfectly in this classic dish that makes dinner feel special without any fuss.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Protein:

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 3 Large eggs

Supporting Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Sliced mushrooms
  • 6 oz Cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 Tablespoons Unsalted butter

Seasonings and Garnish:

  • 2 Teaspoons Minced garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons Chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 Teaspoon Seasoning salt
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and position the rack in the center for even heating.
  2. Season 1 lb. ground beef with 1 tsp. seasoning salt, salt, and pepper. Cook in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned completely.
  3. Drain excess fat from the beef using a colander, then transfer to a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Melt 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add 1 lb. sliced mushrooms and cook for 5-6 minutes until golden.
  5. Stir 2 tsp. minced garlic into the mushrooms and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Sprinkle 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley over the mushrooms and remove from heat.
  7. In a mixing bowl, whisk 6 oz. softened cream cheese with 3 large eggs until smooth and creamy.
  8. Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the ground beef in the baking dish.
  9. Top the casserole with the sautéed mushrooms, spreading them in an even layer.
  10. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes at 350°F until the casserole is set and slightly golden.
  11. Remove from the oven and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top before serving hot.

Notes

  • Opt for fresh mushrooms with firm, unblemished caps for the best texture and flavor in the casserole.
  • Choose ground beef with a moderate fat content (80/20) to ensure the dish stays moist without becoming greasy.
  • For a low-carb version, skip any potential breadcrumbs and use extra cheese as a topping instead of traditional crumb coatings.
  • When sautéing mushrooms, avoid overcrowding the pan to help them brown nicely and develop deeper, richer flavors.
