Sausage Casserole brings comfort straight to your dinner table with hearty layers of flavor that blend perfectly. Rich cheese and savory sausage create a satisfying meal your family will devour in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Proteins:

  • 8 smoked sausage links
  • 2 cups medium cheddar cheese

Primary Vegetables:

  • 3 cups pre-cooked white rice
  • 1 cup broccoli
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 cup celery

Supporting Ingredients:

  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon flavored salt blend
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish with a light coating of cooking spray.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Slice 8 smoked sausage links and cook for 5 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Add 1 chopped white onion and 1 cup chopped celery to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until vegetables soften.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups pre-cooked white rice, ½ cup milk, and 1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup.
  5. Fold in the cooked sausage, sautéed vegetables, 1 cup broccoli, 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, 1 teaspoon seasoned salt, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheese across the top of the casserole.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until the cheese melts and begins to bubble.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Check the sausage is fully cooked and browned before mixing with other ingredients to ensure food safety and rich flavor.
  • Swap white rice for brown rice or quinoa to boost nutritional value and add a nutty texture to the casserole.
  • Cut broccoli into small, uniform pieces so they cook evenly and blend smoothly with other ingredients.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes after baking to help it set and make serving easier, preventing the mixture from falling apart on the plate.
