Description

Warm Creamy Beef Noodle Casserole brings comfort straight from Grandma’s kitchen to your dinner table. Cheesy noodles and hearty ground beef blend perfectly for a satisfying meal your family will devour.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8 oz wide egg noodles
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Supporting Ingredients:

  • 1 cup full-fat sour cream
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Fresh parsley

Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 350°F and lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Boil 8 oz of wide egg noodles in salted water for 7-8 minutes until al dente. Drain completely and set aside.
  3. Brown 1 lb ground beef and 1 diced onion in a large skillet over medium heat for 6-7 minutes. Drain excess fat thoroughly.
  4. Stir 1 tsp garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the beef mixture. Pour 1 cup beef broth into the skillet and simmer for 3 minutes.
  5. Remove skillet from heat and fold 1 cup sour cream into the beef mixture until smooth and creamy.
  6. Gently mix cooked noodles and 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese into the beef mixture, ensuring even coating.
  7. Transfer the entire mixture to the prepared baking dish and sprinkle remaining 1 cup cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 22 minutes until cheese melts and edges become golden and bubbly.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Choose egg noodles with a bit of texture to help them hold up better in the creamy sauce.
  • Drain the beef thoroughly to prevent a watery casserole and ensure a rich, concentrated flavor.
  • For a lighter version, swap ground beef for lean ground turkey and use reduced-fat cheese.
  • Fresh herbs like chopped chives or green onions can brighten the flavor and add a nice pop of color to the finished dish.
