Description

Cheeseburger French Fry Casserole stacks crispy fries with savory beef and cheese. It’s comfort food turned all the way up.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 bag frozen french fries
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Supporting Ingredients:

  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons mustard

Seasoning and Garnish:

  • ¼ cup dill pickle relish
  • 4 garlic cloves

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F and grab a 9×13-inch baking dish for your casserole setup.
  2. Brown 1 pound ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, crumbling meat into small pieces until no pink remains.
  3. Drain beef thoroughly in a colander to remove excess fat, then spread meat evenly across bottom of baking dish.
  4. Whisk together 10 oz cream of mushroom soup, 3 tablespoons ketchup, 3 tablespoons mustard, ¼ cup dill pickle relish, and 4 minced garlic cloves in a separate bowl.
  5. Pour sauce mixture directly over beef, spreading to create an even layer that covers the entire meat surface.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese across the sauced beef, covering completely.
  7. Layer entire 24 oz bag of frozen french fries in a single, uniform row on top of the cheese layer.
  8. Bake uncovered at 350°F for 40 minutes until fries turn golden brown and crispy on top.
  9. Remove casserole from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow layers to set.

Notes

  • Keep the ground beef lean for a less greasy casserole, and drain the fat thoroughly to prevent excess oil.
  • Customize the sauce by adding hot sauce or worcestershire sauce for extra depth of flavor.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free cream of mushroom soup and check that your frozen fries are gluten-free.
  • Garnish with fresh chopped green onions or crispy bacon bits just before serving to add a fresh crunch and boost the flavor profile.
