Protein:
- 4 salmon fillets
Seasonings:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
Sauce Components:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic
- ½ cup dry white wine
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 medium lemon
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Prepare a baking dish with parchment paper or a light coating of olive oil spray.
- Pat 4 salmon fillets completely dry using paper towels. Brush each fillet with 2 tablespoons olive oil.
- Sprinkle 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder and dried Italian herbs over the salmon. Season generously with salt and black pepper.
- Arrange thin lemon slices both underneath and on top of the salmon fillets in the prepared baking dish.
- Slide the baking dish into the preheated 400°F oven. Bake for 15-18 minutes until the salmon easily flakes with a fork.
- While salmon cooks, melt 3 tablespoons butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and saute for exactly 1 minute.
- Pour ½ cup white wine into the skillet. Allow liquid to simmer and reduce for 2-3 minutes.
- Add 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon lemon zest to the skillet. Simmer sauce for 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Stir ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese into the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Fold 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley into the completed sauce.
- Remove salmon from oven. Transfer fillets to serving plates.
- Generously ladle the lemon butter cream sauce over each salmon portion. Garnish with additional parsley and lemon zest if desired.
Notes
- Fresh salmon makes all the difference, so select a high-quality fillet with a vibrant color and minimal fishy smell.
- Drying the salmon thoroughly before seasoning helps create a perfect golden exterior and prevents steaming instead of baking.
- Let the salmon rest for 5 minutes after baking to help retain moisture and ensure a tender, flaky texture.
- For a lighter version, replace heavy cream with Greek yogurt or coconut milk and use olive oil instead of butter.
