Description

Fresh baked chicken alfredo calzones bring comfort straight from your kitchen to the dinner table. Packed with creamy cheese and tender chicken, these golden pockets deliver a satisfying meal your family will absolutely devour.

Ingredients

Scale

Protein:

  • 1 pound cooked chicken breast, shredded or chopped

Cheese:

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

Dough and Seasonings:

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1 cup Alfredo sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare your oven at 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for even cooking.
  2. Combine 1 pound shredded chicken, 1 cup Alfredo sauce, 1½ cups mozzarella, ½ cup ricotta, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning in a mixing bowl.
  3. Separate 1 pound pizza dough into 6 equal sections and roll each piece into a 6-7 inch circular shape.
  4. Distribute chicken mixture onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edge for sealing.
  5. Carefully fold dough over the filling and press edges together using a fork or by twisting to create a tight seal.
  6. Arrange calzones on the prepared baking sheet and brush each top with 1 tablespoon olive oil.
  7. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese over the surface of each calzone.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the calzones turn golden brown and achieve a crisp exterior.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes to allow filling to set.
  10. Optional: Garnish with chopped parsley before serving warm.

Notes

  • Make sure to seal the edges tightly to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
  • Use a fork or crimp the edges to create a secure seal that looks professional.
  • Let the calzones rest for a few minutes after baking to allow the filling to set and prevent burning your mouth.
  • For a lighter version, swap regular Alfredo sauce for a low-fat or Greek yogurt-based alternative and use whole wheat pizza dough.
